| Focal Image India is a software office which offers a text processing and typesetting service to publishers with a specialization in technical and mathematical journals.
With offices in England and in Trivandrum, the India office is headed by Sri.C.V Radhakrishnan, a renowned name in the Tex software world.
With a team strength of over 200 which would soon increase to over 500, M/s Focal Image wanted a campus with a distinct eco-bias. The plot chosen is in a serene suburb of Trivandrum City – 5 acres in extent and gently sloping towards the fields.
Inspiration is currently involved in the field level execution of the Project with a plinth area of approx. 40000 sq.ft including office spaces, a wide range of recreation facilities, guest houses, library, canteen and other amenities.
The main office areas have been oriented so as to reduce direct solar exposure to the main walls. This along with ample, properly detailed cross ventilation is expected to totally do away with air conditioning of the office spaces. Innovative detailing for water cooling of computers and servers, shading devices etc shall help bring down radiated heat from within the building.
The construction technologies include framed structures with a combination of exposed pointed brick masonry and bamboo walls, RCC filler slab, random rubble masonry, flooring with combination of polished red oxide and terracotta tiles etc.
Other nature-friendly features include a rain water harvesting reservoir of capacity 2.2 ML, DEWATS system for treatment and recycling of sewage and waste water for gardening, biogas plant for organic solid waste disposal, solar LED lighting for signages and yard lighting, solar hot water supply system for canteen and guest rooms, optimum use of solar photovoltaic power, organic farming of fruits and vegetables etc. |
