Sky Roca, Yercaud

Sky Roca is a unique hill resort promoted by Mr.V.Sekar, renowned coffee planter, in Yercaud, 35 km uphill from the steel town Salem .

Perched (almost precariously!) on the rocky slope overlooking the breathtaking vista, Sky Roca is almost invisible till one reaches the Reception of the resort..!

The biggest challenge while designing Sky Roca was to create a resort which would exploit the advantage of the valley view to its maximum at the same not stand out or disturb the ambience of the larger landscape of Yercaud.

Eco-features
•	Bioclimatic design with natural lighting and ventilation for all spaces
•	Minimum use of air-conditioning
•	Extensive use of locally available natural materials including random rubble from the site, fly ash cement blocks, plantation timbers for doors/ windows, preservative treated bamboo for fencing and screens etc.
•	Use of low energy using CFLs and LED lights for all lighting – external and internal
•	In situ waste water treatment with DEWATS system
•	In situ composting and recycling of bio degradable wastes
•	Extensive terrace gardens for thermal insulation
•	Emphasis on local plants and trees for landscaping
